In the lead up to the Centenary of ANZAC recently, I had the honour of attending the City of Maribyrnong ANZAC memorial tree planting ceremony. I was joined by with the Member for Footscray, Marsha Thomson, and my fellow Western Metropolitan Members of the Legislative Council, Khalil Eideh, Bernie Finn and Colleen Hartland.
It was an honour to join with the Vietnamese Youth Group on the steps of Parliament House to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. The Youth Group campaign for freedom and democracy in Vietnam.
I joined the Board Chair of Western Health, the Hon Bronwyn Pike, the CEO of Western Health, Associate Professor Alex Cockram, Mary-Anne Thomas MP representing the Minister for Health, together with Western MPs Marsha Thomson MP, Natalie Suleyman MP and Khalil Eideh MP to officially open the Intensive Care and Cardiac Services Unit at Sunshine Hospital.
Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan recently announced that the removal of our 50 most dangerous and congested level crossings has started. The Main Road, St Albans level crossing has already been put out to tender and work is expected to begin this year.
