New Grants to tackle local crime

The Andrews Labor Government has just announced another 109 grants to assist local communities tackle crime and anti-social behaviour as part of the Community Safety Fund. Of the $830,000 in grants, Local Governments and community groups and organisations in Melbourne’s West will recieve $149,423 in funding for projects that will reduce crime and improve community safety.

These projects include $10,000 for a Friday night soccer program near Sunshine station to discourage loitering and promote positive role models; $9,900 for temporary public space improvements involving Sudanese youth; $5,000 for a Jamaican dance program; $10,000 for lighting outside Sunshine businesses to improve nighttime safety and a combined $17,600 for lighting near St Albans Square, divided into two grants to the St Albans Business Group Association and Brimbank City Council.
